Meet Melissa, a Registered Massage Therapist who is passionate about helping people improve their physical and emotional well-being. Growing up, Melissa played many sports and was always interested in learning about the human body and helping with her teammates’ injuries.
After completing her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Melissa worked in the field of active rehabilitation where she mainly worked with post-motor vehicle accident injuries. Having been in an accident herself in the past, she found massage therapy and active rehabilitation an excellent combination that helped with her recovery and wanted to help others the same way. She pursued her passion for massage therapy at WCCMT and is now a registered member of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia.
Melissa’s approach to massage therapy is holistic, focusing on treating the root cause of her client's pain and discomfort, rather than just the symptoms. She is trained in a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy. She has experience working with acute and chronic conditions such as muscle strains, osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, as well as general tightness in the body and more.
Outside of work, you can find Melissa playing volleyball, badminton, spikeball, and trying new restaurants. She believes in the importance of self-care and encourages her clients to make time for themselves to improve their overall well-being.
